Connect. Support. Inspire.

Our longterm co-living community is designed for those who are seeking to spend a minimum of six months living in the Eastern Sierra Mountains of California. This space is for those who feel inspired to explore deeper  shared presence and embrace a lifestyle that embodies more connection to nature and to each other.

Together we actively “re-think community” and work on ways to make co-habitation a skill that we can apply in our current relationships. Our goal is to steward an atmosphere of open & honest communication and exploration into group dynamics.

What is unique about co-living at Montaia Basecamp?

1) Access to super-high-speed Wi-Fi (fiber optic cable)

2) Remote Location: 30 mins from the closest town, but only 5 mins from national forest & hiking trails

3) Hand picked roomates; value-aligned folks who love being close to the outdoors & community

4) Shared lifestyle centered around healthy living, outdoor adventures, and supportive relationships

At Montaia Basecamp, we explore how to...

Communal Meals:
Each week, you will cook dinner for the community once - with an assigned cooking partner. This means that you will also be fed dinner by others 4-5 times per week.

Weekly Community Check-In Meeting: Once per week, you will choose a recurring time to gather with your roomates for 90mins. During these meetings, you will check-in with each other, share offers/requests, and design the schedule for the coming week.

Survival Team:
Each week, you will be asked tro donate one hour of our time to an outdoors chore on the property such as; chopping wood, turning the compost, cleaning the hot tub, clearing the land for fire prevention, etc.

Spontaneous Adventures:
When the people you live with become your best friends (as often ends happening at Montaia Basecamp) you end up with automatic adventure buddies. Backcountry skiing, sunrise hot spring soaks, or bouldering buddies are only a room away.

FAQs

How much does it cost?

The rooms at Basecamp range from $800-1400 (depending on size, view, and level of privacy). Financial aid always available primarily for minority individuals (LGBTQ+ and BIPOC). See the Montaia Basecamp page for more info.

What if I am totally new to outdoor adventures, is this still a good fit?

The nature of our lifestyle is active. Hiking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, etc make up the majority of our group adventures, but we are always happy to teach and guide enthusiastic beginners.

How long can we stay in the community?

The shortest stay we offer is 3months but the majoriy of our residents are here longterm (12+months). Applicants who are looking for 6+ months are prioritized for cohesion purposes. There is always a mix of local work force and online remote workers folks living in the space.

Will I have to do my own dishes, laundry, etc?

Yes! There is no maid service at Montaia Basecamp. Your rental fees cover the cost of your room and basic utilities. You will be asked to participate in maintaining an organized standard within the shared spaces; such as keeping the kitchen clean and easy to use, tidying up after yourself, and engaging in the weekly house cleaning hour.
