Montaia Basecamp is a CABIN Neighborhood nestled in the heart of the Eastern Sierra Mountains in California. With the rapid exponential growth rate of our modern technological world, we feel it’s crucially important to remain grounded and connected to the other and to the wild realm of the Earth.
This ReWilding experience is aimed towards reminding the leaders, developers, & creators of the Web3 world of how inspiring and humbling the wild world truly is. We will focus on rekindling the deep spirit of exploration, inspiration, and wonder by immersing ourselves into our surrounding environment, as well as bringing greater attention to the way our health is affected by this connection.
During this time together, we will have the best of both worlds:
1) Access to high-speed wifi during the work week (fiber optic)
2) A strong focus on reconnecting with a more natural way of life through outdoor adventures and wilderness immersions. This will include a few digital detox days, optional overnight camping trips, and weekly local volcanic hot springs soaks.
This residency is for you if...
Citizens have passports that give them access to Cabin’s coliving experiences, neighborhoods, and annual gathering. We collectively govern our city and build a network of neighborhoods from the ground up.
We are now expanding a shared culture, economy, and governance across a global network of physical neighborhoods designed for strong community, fast internet, and access to nature.
Over the past two years, our online community has designed and built a thriving coliving property called Neighborhood Zero in the Texas Hill Country. Over the next few years, our city will grow to 5,040 founding citizens—the number that Aristotle thought made for an ideal polis.
We aim to offer more affordable, more flexible, and more community oriented housing options than you can get in traditional cities.
This regenerative co-living space is designed to facilitate communal living in a remote region of California. This is a space of practicing togetherness, where we learn to weave a tapestry of connection between humans and the world around us.
Here at Montaia Basecamp, we focus on developing our relationship to community and to the surrounding wilderness.
Montaia Basecamp is nestled in the neighborhood of Swall Meadows (30min) from the nearby towns of Mammoth lakes and Bishop, CA. Our back door opens into hundreds of miles of Inyo National Forest, a beautiful expanses of wilderness. There are countless hiking trails, world-class bouldering/sport/trad climbing routes, and natural hot springs in the surrounding region.

Come experience the wild ruggedness of the expansive Eastern Sierra mountains and discover what your mind, heart, and soul never knew it was missing!
Together we will build community ties as we weave this tapestry of connection between humans and the natural world. We will focus on developing healthy relationships with self, with community, and with the wilderness around us.

This month is aimed towards outdoor immersion with activities and experiences that may be new for some folks joining, so no one is expected to be an expert. Hiking, climbing, and camping will be what our adventures revolve around and we’ll design each trip based on the abilities of the whole group. As long as your bring your excitement and enthusiasm, we’ll handle the rest.

Bring personal items, clothing for warm California summer days but cool mountain nights. Bring sunhats and sun shirts as we are high altitude! Bring basic camping gear (tent, mat, sleeping bag, basic cookware - if you have it). We have a house library but we recommend brining your favorite book for digital detox days. You do not need to bring bedding or towels or kitchen ware.
